Fundamental Operation

A symbol having a fixed numerical value is called a constant otherwise it is known as a variable.

A combination of constants and variables, connected by the fundamental operations +,-,*, and / is called an algebraic expression.

An expression consisting of a single term is called a Monomial while an expression of two terms is called a binomial and of three terms a Trinomial and of moiré than three terms is called Multinomial.

All these monomial, binomial, trinomial and multinomial and called Polynomials.

When two or more numbers and variables are multiplied then each one of them and their product is called a factor of the product.

A constant factor is called a numerical factor, while a variable is known as a literal factor.

In a product of number and variable, any of the factors is called the coefficient of the product of other factors.

A term of the expression having no literal factor is called constant terms.

The term having the same literal factors is like or similar terms, otherwise they are called, unlike terms.

Addition of Algebraic Expressions: To add two or more algebraic expressions, we add like terms and write the resulting polynomial.
