Number System
In earlier classes, you studied the system of numbers, whole numbers, integers, and fractions. You may recall them asunder.
Natural Number: The counting number are called natural numbers. Thus, 1,2,3,4,… are all natural numbers.
Whole Number: All natural numbers together with () (zero) are called whole numbers. Thus, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, .are whole numbers.
Integers: The whole numbers together with negatives of natural numbers are known as integers.
Fractions: The number of the form a/b where a and b are natural numbers is known as fractions.
Rational number: A number that can be expressed in the form p/q where p and q integers are called a rational number.
Note 1. Every natural number is a rational number
2. Every integer is a rational number
3. Zero is a rational number
4. Every fraction is a rational number.
Real Number
A number, which either rational or irrational is called a real number. In other words, a set of a real number is the union of the set of a rational number and set of an irrational number
